Gracie Kids and Teens Class Syllabus

Individual Lesson Plan

Lesson 1:

Warm up: Hipping out, over head forward rolling, backward rolling, bridging

Self Defence: Stand up in base, solid base drill. Tug of War

Technique: Mount Positional Control- Swimming arms, side to side buck, roll to Back Control

Lesson 2:

Warm up: Hipping out, over head and over shoulder forward rolling, backward rolling, bridging

Self Defence: Simple Wrist Grab, thumb up and thumb down

Technique: Breaking down posture in Guard, maintaining Guard

Attack: Triangle from Guard

Lesson 3:

Warm up: Hipping out, forward rolling, backward rolling, switching hips, bridging

Self Defence: Double hand wrist grab

Technique: Side Controls 1, 2, and 3. Side Control into Mount, Stay on Mount

Lesson 4:

Warm up: Hipping out, forward rolling, backward rolling, switching hips, wheel barrow

Self Defence: Back break falls, side break falls

Technique: Review positional sequence Guard/Side Control/Mount and points

Lesson 5:

Warm up: Hipping out, forward rolling, backward rolling, wheel barrow, sprawls, break falls

Self Defence: Haymaker Punch Block and clinch

Technique: Back Control with seatbelt. Maintaining Back control- Bronco game, horse races

Attack: Rear naked choke

Lesson 6:

Warm up: Hipping out, forward rolling to break fall, backward rolling, sprawls, break falls

Self Defence: Haymaker Punch Block and throw

Technique: Shoulder walk, shrimp escape from Mount

Attack: Armbar fromGuard

Lesson 7:

Warm up: Hipping out, forward rolling to break fall, backward rolling, Stand up in base, Stand up in base movements

Self Defence: Rear bear hug under arms

Technique: Open and passing closed Guard on knees using Combat base

Lesson 8:

Warm up: Hipping out, forward rolling to break fall, backward rolling, Stand up in base, Stand up in base movements

Review week. Prepare for belt test.

Warm up: Hipping our, forward rolls, backward rolls, hipping out, bridges

Self Defence: Front choke, double hand

Technique: Escape bottom Side Control by bridging and hipping out

Attack: Triangle from Guard

Lesson 10:

Warm up: Hipping our, forward rolls, backward rolls, hipping out, bridges, break falls

Self Defence: Front choke, single hand

Technique: Escape Back control. Protect neck, hip out back to Guard

Attack: Taking the back from Turtle position to choke

Lesson 11:

Warm up: Hipping out, forward rolling, backward rolling, stand up in base, stand up in base movements

Self Defence: Front choke, double hand against wall

Technique: Koshi Gurma takedown

Lesson 12:

Prepare for Competition

Go over positions and points, go over legal and illegal moves, go over referee commands

Lesson 13:

Warm up:  Hipping out, star jumps, side break falls, rocking chair, Gracie Animal Movements

Self Defence: Single hand shoulder grab

Technique: Pendulum sweep from Guard

Attack: Mount cross collar choke sequence

Lesson 14:

Warm up: Hipping out, star jumps, side break falls, rocking chair, Gracie Animal Movements

Self Defence: Cross collar choke from standing

Technique: Sit up sweep from Guard

Attack: Simple cross collar choke, over the head, and shave versions from Guard

Lesson 15:

Warm up: Hipping out, forward and backward rolls, rocking chair, feet on hip drill

Self Defence: Headlock Escape 1 and 2 from ground

Technique: Standing Guard pass

Attack: Side Control choke

Lesson 16:

Review week

Self Defence: Single hand collar grab

Technique: Buck and roll escape from Mount

Attack: Americana from Mount

Self Defence: Forward roll, Stand up in base and side kick

Technique: Double unders Guard pass

Attack: Kimura from Side Control

Lesson 20:

Prepare for belt test
