Why the Gracie Humaita Sydney Foundation Program exists? Briefly, the old saying that Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that makes a smaller and weaker person being able to defeat a bigger and stronger opponent in a 1vs1 combat is truly real! Jiu-Jitsu was further developed in Brazil by the Gracie family and became one of the most representative sports in the world, especially after the boom of the UFC.
Being a grappling modality, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is based on leverage to unbalance the opponent and use their weight against themselves. You only attack where the opponent is most vulnerable, reducing the energy spent and maximizing efficiency.
At Gracie Humaita Sydney we have a wide variety of programs that fits all types of people, starting on the Toddlers, Kids and Teens programs, and passing through all adults programs at all different levels.
The Foundation Program was recently brought back as a way to build the basis of the Jiu-Jitsu on the newbies. The first months of Jiu-Jitsu is very challenging for the majority of people and deserve special attention from the coaches to correct mistakes since the beginning. In the Foundation program, students will learn movements that will condition their body and mind on how to perform BJJ movements and think accordingly. Muscle memory, stamina, and flexibility play an important role here. So, the Foundation program is where new students build the basis of their BJJ.
It is clear to see but not always remembered that students can’t learn how to armbar before they know to bridge, hip scape or do a forward roll. Difficult terms, right? Be patient that improvement comes with commitment and repetition! There is a famous quote that says, ‘Black belts are white belts who never gave up’. That’s the pathway to becoming an excellent fighter! After having a good base, everything will come naturally.
All that being said, Gracie Humaita Sydney will love to receive your visit for your FREE TRIAL. Doesn’t matter your skills, fears, size or experience, we will have a program that will suits, absolutely!
