Another year is coming to an end and we naturally look back to see what we were able to accomplish in the past 12 months. We have listed 5 goals we hope you were able to achieve in 2016. We know that if you did, your life is now much better than it was back in January. Take a look.

Started training

Maybe your kids already trained and every time you took them to class you wondered how it would feel to train yourself. One day, finally, you got the courage to put the gi (or the rash guard) on and give it a try. Now, you cannot spend two days off the mat. Way to go! Keep on the amazing work.

Went back to training

We all know how busy our daily routines can get. More than that, injuries can bring our training to a halt. Not to mention financial issues that sometimes force us to make tough decisions. If despite all that, you were able to go back to training in 2016, congratulations. In the long term, you’ll see how much of a benefit that hour (at least) a day on the mat is good for you.

Convinced a family member or a friend to train

Once we join the gentle art movement, the next impulse is to bring those we love to share the experience with us. If in 2016 you were able to convince a friend or a family member to share the mats with you, you are a good person. It’s time to convince another one!

Adopted the Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle

The founding fathers of Jiu-Jitsu, more precisely Carlos and Helio Gracie, preached and practiced that the gentle art is much more than training. The right diet, the right frame of mind, the right sleeping habits, etc, are all part of a positive lifestyle that makes the Jiu-Jitsu experience much more powerful. So, if you adopted a wholesome Jiu-Jitsu attitude to your daily routine you are on the right track.

Competed in a tournament for the first time

No one is absolutely required to compete. It’s a personal choice, no matter what you hear or read. Nevertheless, it’s undoubtedly a part of the Jiu-Jitsu experience. The gentle art is a self-defense system, a form of combat, but also a sport. It’s a great way to test yourself, learn how to deal with stress and how to react while uncomfortable positions, etc. So, congratulations for stepping up and going out there.

So, which of these accomplishes were you able to cross off your list in 2016?
